[Updated 1 June 2020]In a post-Christmas end of season clearance, bargain price kitchen accessories are on offer everywhere right now, and there are some awesome deals to be had if you’re looking for Crock Pots or slow cookers, food vacuum sealers, deep fat fryers and just about anything for cooking winter style meals or giving as a gift.
Having spent up during the festive season, I usually stay away from Amazon in January and often February too, but the completely atrocious weather has pushed stronger people than me into a bit of retail therapy, and this time it was a really good thing.
Now Is A Good Time To Buy
End of season and end of line type discounts happen all year round but the biggest cuts are in the slowest retail months, to keep them ticking over I guess, but coinciding with when everyone has less to spend. Basically, at this time of year, we all need a good bit of tempting to open our depleted wallets.
However, if there’s something you know you need or something you really want and you can get it for less without going too far over the monthly spend, then it will definitely cost in. You may not be thinking about the bliss of home snow cone machines on a hot summer day, in the middle of winter, but its probably the best time to go looking for one.
That all said, I’m kinda sentimental about these things though and don’t like changing them out, you get used to what you use, get nice and comfortable knowing how long meals take to cook, or that just perfect angle on a good mandolin slicer that gets an even cut every time.
Take our old Cuisinart slow cooker as a good example. It’s been magic, a brilliant servant as recently as last week for an awesome stew, but it has seen better days, cooked more than a thousand meals and frankly needed replacing… two years ago! But as long as it kept going why change it out right?
Well, one day it’s not going to switch on at all, or switch off halfway through and never switch on again! It won’t happen there’s an alternative meal easily produced, but at the most inconvenient moment possible – been there before with a microwave and ironically a Christmas plum pudding!
You can get slow cookers and Crock Pots at low prices anytime, but not the really good ones with all singing all dancing cooking control and a low simmer that really is a low simmer, not at prices we can casually afford this time of year anyway.
What Got The Credit Card Out Then?
A super smart stainless steel Crock Pot with a digital touch screen – technology in the kitchen gets better every year. If you just happened to be looking for one, read the post on Crock Pots and Slow Cookers – this model been added at the top while it’s such a good deal.
The reason this is such a good buy is the cooking and temperature control is rated as excellent, All-Clad was what I was going to look at (If ever getting round to it before the Cuisinart died!) but this is outstanding value and in the same class as the much more expensive model I’d got an eyes on, so I’ve bought one.
The point of today’s post isn’t to send folks off to buy a Crock Pot or anything else they don’t need or want, more to point out that if you’ve been hunting down a gadget for the kitchen you know you’ll need – and it represents a chunk of dosh, a substantial outlay of the household budget, then there’s a very good chance you can buy better quality than you thought for less right now – it’s worth a look anyway.
